Many Windows

A Corinne Burton Scholar's exhibition exploring art, healing, and identity

Many Windows exhibition poster — participatory ceramic windows by Georgia Arben-Crowther at The Crypt Gallery, London

From Corinne Burton Scholar to Exhibiting Artist

Georgia Arben-Crowther, a Corinne Burton Memorial Trust scholarship recipient, is presenting Many Windows — a major new exhibition at The Crypt Gallery in London. The show is rooted in her work as an art psychotherapist in palliative and cancer care, and showcases participatory ceramic artworks created alongside patients and communities navigating dementia, cancer, and autism.

Georgia holds a BFA from the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, and completed her MA in Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2025 as a Corinne Burton Scholar. She now works as an art psychotherapist at St Bartholomew's Hospital in Cancer Psychological Services — one of CBMT's founding partner hospitals.

The Exhibition

Many Windows is a participatory initiative that invites participants to translate their inner landscapes into personalised artworks. Working with communities at St Bartholomew's Hospital, Vale House Specialist Dementia Care Home, and The Parasol Project, the works serve as tactile reconstructions of comfort — a way to frame the present through the lens of memory and identity.

"These artistic portals allow participants to reclaim their agency, defining themselves by their creative output rather than being defined by a diagnosis. It's about taking those 'unseen' internal worlds and giving them a physical, celebrated presence."

— Georgia Arben-Crowther

The title originates from a quote by a resident at Vale House: "There is No Door, Yet There are Many Windows" — a powerful metaphor acknowledging that while there may be no "door" to escape terminal illness or dementia, there remain "many windows" of creative possibility and lucidity.

Central to Georgia's practice is clay — a medium she values for its ability to encapsulate the earth and ground the individual in a sense of belonging. Each ceramic window becomes a testament to a life lived outside conventional markers of time, synthesising individual stories into a collective dialogue.
